So last night I met up with a new friend. She’s looking to get into the entertainment industry and my friend JC referred her to me. We met up at the Alcove to talk shop and share stories and when I first walked up she waved me over. She said she’d googled me and found a photo so she’d know what I looked like when we met up. Very resourceful right. But I’m thinking, “Do I really come up in a google search?” Last time I checked the only thing that came up was myspace and my imdb credit on “Flushed Away”. This time, it was mostly that, but also listings for Casting Director workshops I’d been a guest at over the last year when I worked with Megan Foley Casting and a few other random links. Like this one:
This is a link to a variety list that I was on for industry people who were born in 1981. I think “really?”. I go to the list and find names like: Jessica Alba, Hayden Christensen, Alicia Keyes, Alexis Bledel, Zachary Ty Bryan, Johnathan Taylor Thomas, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Justin Timberlake, Natalie Portman…and me. Yup. I’m on there. How in the world did that happen? I feel like I just earned 10 extra ‘cool points’ though I don’t know who’s giving them out. What a random list of people. Seriously. I’d like to know how this happened, because I’m SURE I’m not the only Coordinator level person (credit wise online) in Hollywood who was born in 1981—but the list doesn’t seem long enough for all credited persons to be included….This is really curious to me.
