So, I started this ‘weekly’ blog a while ago and have been horribly busy since then. What with the recent move and all—things have been pretty crazy. This is only my second post, but I promise you it’s an entertaining one 🙂
The thing I have to tell you about this week is my friend: Renee Wong Mytar. Though we’ve been friends for about 4 years, the reason I have to tell you about her THIS week is because of her most recent video blog dedication to me. In the past, Renee has provided me with hours of entertainment through these video blogs, specifically the musical ones. There’s the musical ‘devotional time’ that includes lip syncing and interpretive dance to Joan Osbourne’s “What if God was One of Us,” the infamous “Tomato Song” rap where she freestyles while her DJ hubby spins and dances in the background, and many other amusing antecdotes.
But I have to say, I think she’s really outdone herself this time. The other day, Renee called me and said, “I was thinking of doing a new musical video blog and thought I’d call you for suggestions since you always like them so much.” I thought for a minute and my mind immediately went to favorite songs from my childhood, so I suggested: “Walk Like an Egyptian” by the Bangles, “Eternal Flame” also by the Bangles, and of course THE ultimate 90’s favorite “Escapade” by Janet Jackson. When I watched this the first time, I just sat there laughing, yelling at the screen, “What are you DOING?!” I wonder if she would have ever gotten to the dancing/’artistic’ portion of the video if she had picked a song with the longer title…You’ll see what I mean. 🙂
Only a friend who knows me this well could know that posting this weird video works as personal affirmation for me and makes my heart SO happy.
Thanks Nae. You’re awesome. Hours of entertainment and energy paired with deep and meaningful conversations. All put together in one cute little (very fashionable) package. I so appreciate you and your randomness.
